Using the Rocktron Patch Mate and All Access foot controller to set up "instant access" switches for individual control of each loop.

This is a great set up allowing you to control all of your MIDI and non MIDI gear with one switch but still giving you the option of having a "pedal board" set up with a individual switch for each device or function just like your existing pedal board. Change channels on your amp bring stomp boxes in and out of the signal path with true bypass switching and control all of your MIDI gear with one switch.

If you want to set it up as individual instant access switches do these steps.

Here are the steps for the Patch Mate.

Press and hold the store button until it start flashing.
You should have none of the loop LED's lit.
Press the store button one more time to enter the controller assignment mode
Press the loop 1 switch so it is lit.
Hit store once more to exit.

This has now set up the loops for CC#'s 8 thru 15. Meaning switches on the All Access 8 thru 18 will represent loops 1 thru 8 on the Patch Mate.

On the All Access do this.
Hit 2nd
Hit setup
Be sure it is set for BANK
Hit #9 once and set it for BANK by 5
Hit 2nd to exit

Now to create a preset;

Recall your preset say switch 1 (preset 1)
Select the upper switches 8 thru 15 turning the Patch Mate loops on or off.
Hit 2nd
Hit store.

Repeat for each preset.

Understanding Pre-EQ within the Rocktron Voodu Valve or Prophesy preamp's.

Pre EQ: Another twist to this is now working with PRE EQ. This means adjusting an EQ before the gain stage. All amps/preamps have PRE EQ built into the circuit and is usually not adjustable at all. You don't even know it exist in most cases. As a rule of thumb think of this as the total opposite of the way you set a typical POST EQ. Most POST EQ's represent some sort of smiley face curve, boost the bass, cut the mids and boost some highs. The guitar is all mid range, doing this on a PRE EQ will suck the life right out of your instrument. With PRE EQ cut the bass to avoid a muddy sounding low end on high gain sounds. Boost the heck out of the mid range to bring the fret board to life and use the highs sparingly to avoid a very brittle distortion sound. So in essence you've created a sad face on the EQ. This is only true when using higher amounts of gain. If you have no gain taking place then you really have no PRE or POST EQ it is all the same, go back to a traditional smiley face curve as a rule of thumb.

Using two preamp's with the Rocktron Prophesy.

Prophesy with Head or Combo’s Preamp

To connect the Prophesy with another preamp I recommend placing the second preamp in the Prophesy’s effects loop. This gives you the option of using either preamp or both as well as having pre-effects like wah, compression etc…before the preamp's and other effects like delay and reverb after the preamp's.

Connect Prophesy effects loop send to heads (or preamp) input.
Connect Prophesy effects loop return to preamp output (or heads effects loop send)
Connect Prophesy output to power amp input (or heads effects loop return)
Assign the Prophesy effects loop to the post effect 1 position
Turn on the front panel loop switch.
Turn off the front panel preamp switch
Be sure post effect 2 mix is set for 100% effect in the mixer section.
Hit store

This allows you to have another preamp used instead of the Prophesy preamp while still having effects in front and after the preamp along with the ability to switch to the Prophesy’s preamp section for different presets.

Here is how to set up your Rocktron Prophesy preamp with a Midi Mate foot controller and Hex expression pedal for use as a volume control.

Prophesy Midi Mate and Hex pedal

On the midi mate
Recall the preset with wah
Hit 2nd
Hit #6 twice, display will scroll midi channels and stop at S1CH 1
Continue to hit the #6 switch about 9 more times until you get to PEDCH OFF
Use the bank/adjust switches and set for PEDCH 1
Hit #6 once more and the display will scroll CONTROLLER ASSIGNMENTS and stop at PEDL OFF
Use the bank/adjust switches and set for PEDL 17
Hit 2nd to exit editing mode.

These examples above will only be accurate if you have not already changed them to something else. The Prophesy has wah freq defaulted to CC#16, and we will set volume set for CC#17. Above we set the pedal to midi channel one and set the controller change # to 17. The channel is global and never needs set again but the controller assignments is per preset and can be different for any preset. If you like the pedal to be wah on a different preset or even assign the volume to more presets do the following.

Hit 2nd
Hit #5 twice
Use the bank/adjust switches and set for either #16 for wah or #17 for volume.
You can continue to switch to the next preset if you like to set a bunch of different presets while still in this editing mode or hit 2nd to exit. Hitting the edit preset switches will take you to the next preset and you can continue to enter #16 or 17 again and again.

To see if your pedal (Hex) is connected and working properly do the following.
Recall your programmed wah preset from the midi mate
Hit 2nd
Hit #5 twice
Move the pedal from heel to toe and it should read from 0 to 127 or very close to these max/min values. If your pedal does not do this smoothly but jumps around or does change at all. You may not have it connected properly. It is easiest connected with a short stereo (RTS) cable.

The Prophesy has a separate place to assign use as a volume pedal on its preamp channel select page, it should look something like this.

Channel Voicing Type V-CN RUN STAT V-PED
1 American Clean 17 ON 127

Turn the page knob and set everything but the Voicing Type to match the above settings and hit store to save the settings.
